Because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which more than 39,000 leading attorneys cast almost 3.1 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.”

It is important to note that the lawyers listed in Best Lawyers have no say in deciding which practice areas they are included in. They are voted into practice areas entirely as a result of the votes they receive from their peers. This is the second consecutive year that five partners have been voted into The Best Lawyers in America.

Vertz and Elisabeth Bennington were inducted into the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Fellows Program for 2009. The Fellows Program honors attorneys who have shown a commitment to excellence in charitable, community, professional and public service activities. Bennington and Vertz focus their practice in the areas of divorce, support and custody law. Todd Begg and David Pollock have been Fellows since 2007 and Candice Komar has been a Fellow since 2006.

We are pleased to announce that five partners (David S. Pollock, Todd M. Begg, Candice L. Komar, Daniel H. Glasser, and Brian C. Vertz) have been selected once again as 2010 Super Lawyers for family law.

What is a Super Lawyer? The publishers of Law and Politics and Philadelphia Magazine conduct an annual survey of all Pennsylvania lawyers who have been licensed for five years or more. The magazine staff conducts its own research and combines its research with the results of the survey. Finally, a blue ribbon panel reviews the nominees in each practice area. The top 5% of lawyers in each practice area are designated as Super Lawyers.

Elisabeth Bennington was named a SuperLawyers Rising Star for family law for 2006.
